Round Productions to be the exclusive producers of the "The Legend Continues…" featuring Tommy "the Hitman" Hearns. Taking place the same weekend as Superbowl XL, a sold out
crowd of 15,121 turned out at the Palace of Auburn Hills for the event. The main event, 47-year-old ring legend Thomas "the Hitman"
Hearns, (61-5-1, 48 KOs), stopped Indiana's Shannon "Sandman" Landberg, (58-11, 23 KOs) in the tenth round. The "Hitman" managed to summon the characteristic snap in his
punches, and step on the gas to score a TKO. Referee Dale Grable waived the fight off at 1:35 in the tenth.In the co-main, Thomas Hearn's undefeated middleweight
son Ronald, moved his record to (10-0, 7 KOs) by beating Kirk "The Movie Star" Douglas, (10-11, 8 KOs), stopping him at 2:12 in the second round. On the undercard, Detroit's Lanardo "Pain Server" Tyner,
(10-0, 7 KOs) broke a close first round wide open with a powerful onslaught of shots. Columbus, Ohio's Leo Martinez was knocked out at 2:42 of the first round. The normally
strong- chinned Martinez was asleep before he hit the canvas. Knockout artist Tyrone "Young Gun" Brunson, (9-0, 9 KOs) from Philadelphia, PA, expertly used glovework on Indiana's
James "Jammin" Morrow, (8-2, 4 KOs), stopping him at 1:04 of the first round. Many celebrities were in attendance, including Rolling Stone guitarist Ron Wood. Evander Holyfield was also on hand to
lend his voice for television color that was hosted by Dave Bontempo and Jon Saraceno and aired on Fox Sports Network Detroit. |
